American Addiction Centers is the largest network of private rehab facilities in the United States. We offer treatment in California, Florida, Texas, Nevada, Mississippi, New Jersey, and Rhode Island.

We were founded in 2007 by Michael Cartwright. With over 20 years of experience in the addiction treatment field, Cartwright is a notable behavioral health expert, author, speaker, and entrepreneur. He is a founding member of the board of Dual Recovery Anonymous and is a member of the National Steering council on Co-occurring Disorders. Cartwright has directly supervised 15 federally funded research studies on best treatment practices and is a pioneer of dual diagnosis; a major facet of the American Addiction Centers treatment model today.

Our Treatment Program

The American Addiction Centers treatment program focuses on research-based treatment that helps clients with drug addiction, alcohol addiction, and co-occurring behavioral and mental health disorders. Under the direction of our Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Lawrence Weinstein, our programs are staffed by seasoned addiction professionals including physicians, psychologists, and psychiatrists, therapists, and social workers. Through therapy and counseling, our staff will help address not only a client’s addiction but also any underlying causes of it.

At the core of our mission is the belief everyone deserves the highest quality of care. As a result, we offer high staff-to-patient ratios to ensure more personal attention. Many staff members have either experienced addiction themselves or are actively supported a loved one through recovery. You can rest assured that our staff knows what you or your loved one is going through. For more information on our facilities, click the button below.

Our Mission & Purpose

Our mission at American Addiction Centers is to provide quality, compassionate, and innovative care to adults struggling with addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders. Through comprehensive and customized treatment plans, we instill hope that long-term recovery is possible. Our purpose and passion are to empower you, your family, and your community by helping you achieve recovery and optimal wellness of the mind, body, and spirit.

We believe our mission begins by offering the most up-to-date, informative, and educational content on the internet related to addiction. Our website, addiction-treatment.com is our most recent effort to fulfill our mission and lead the addiction industry in education and transparency. By educating people on the symptoms of addiction, what to expect during treatment, and how to access treatment, we believe we can empower people in crisis to ask for help.

Our Ethical Standards

In the interest of being as helpful as possible to those struggling with addiction, we commit to a high level of ethical standards. We aim to make our site as transparent as possible by marking ads, distinguishing them from editorial content, disclosing our sponsors, as well as our relationship with our websites and our helplines.  Additionally, we take steps to ensure our advertisers are licensed, similar to the criteria used by the federally run Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) provider directory at SAMHSA.gov.

Our content is impartial and unbiased. We do not endorse or subscribe to any particular recovery method, and we believe that the personal decision to seek treatment is one that should be done autonomously and with the support of all possible information.

We hold ourselves to the highest level of financial integrity, and we do not sell or broker admissions, or engage in unethical “consultant contracts.” If you encounter any marketing practices based on calls made to centers or helplines listed on this site that you feel are deceptive, unethical, or misleading, contact us and we will do our best to correct the situation and help you find a trustworthy provider.
